TAKE THE SHOT

The movie Skyfall (2012) is a masterclass in tension. As Eve (Naomie Harris) hesitates, M (Judi Dench) gives the chilling order: “Take the shot.” The audience is left holding their breath as Bond (Daniel Craig) is hit and falls from the train into the river below. It’s a scene packed with suspense, uncertainty, and high stakes—one of the most memorable moments in the film. For the past fifty-seven weeks, I’ve been telling myself “Take the shot.” Well, I’m not trying to destroy a human assassin with a high-powered rifle I’m trying to annihilate the disease of obesity with GLP-1 shots. More specifically, after trying countless diets, and spending thousands of dollars purchasing supplements, programs, books, exercise equipment, and consultations, I knew trying GLP-1 medications was worth a try. The primary issue with GLP-1 medications is in affordability and accessibility. Many individuals who rely on Medicare for health insurance aspired to be able to acquire GLP-1 medications in 2025. However, those hopes were dashed as the current regime overturned the legislation.

I am beyond grateful that I can take GLP-1 medications. My insurance does not cover obesity medications, and I must pay out of pocket. In future posts, I will take you all down the rabbit hole I encountered to obtain the treatment I needed to begin a path of managing the chronic condition of obesity. My story about GLP-1 medications did not start last year. We have a very interesting relationship. Until the next time I post on this topic, I’ll keep taking the shot.
